Newcastle United fear new double injury blow ahead of Liverpool clash

Newcastle United’s injury concerns are getting worse, as they may be without two more important players against Liverpool.

Eddie Howe is anxious about the availability of Callum Wilson and Kieran Trippier for tonight’s Premier League match at Anfield (kick-off 8pm).

 

NewcastleWorld is aware that both players are questionable, therefore the team’s absence list may once more include more than ten players.

On Boxing Day, Trippier played the entire ninety minutes as the Magpies fell short against Nottingham Forest 3-1. Miguel Almiron was replaced by Wilson in the 55th minute of play.

Tino Livramento may take Trippier’s place at right back, and Alexander Isak, who scored on his most recent debut at Anfield in 2022, is anticipated to lead the attack.

The possibility of both players being out could provide United more injury woes. Nine senior players, including Sandro Tonali, Nick Pope, Jacob Murphy, Harvey Barnes, Joe Willock, Elliot Anderson, Javier Manquillo, Matt Targett, and Jamaal Lascelles, are already residing in their treatment room. Virgil van Dijk’s first-half red card gave Newcastle a 1-0 lead against the 10-man Reds in their early-season encounter at St. James’ Park. But Darwin Nunez surprised the hosts with a brace in the closing minutes.
