It’s considered doubtful that Cleveland Browns wide receiver Amari Cooper will play against the New York Jets on Thursday night after an incredible showing in a victory against the Houston Texans last week.
Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports that Cooper’s availability for Thursday’s game is “up in the air” because of a heel issue. Although Cooper is optimistic about his chances of playing, he will know more as kickoff approaches.
After breaking the Browns single-game receiving yardage record with 11 catches for 265 yards and two scores, Cooper is coming off a spectacular performance.
With a 10-5 record and a three-game winning streak under their belt, the Browns are probably headed to the playoffs. Cooper has been the obvious focal point of Cleveland’s attack in recent weeks, and it has shown to be quite effective.
Cooper’s rise this season has paralleled the team’s decision to start veteran Joe Flacco at quarterback after Deshaun Watson was placed on injured reserve with a season-ending injury.
Since signing off the street, the former MVP and champion of the Super Bowl has started for Cleveland and gone 3-1. He has made it his goal to get the ball into Cooper’s hands
