In the running backs room, it would appear that the Texans are looking for a second person. Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 said that during today’s workouts, Houston hosted veteran rusher Deon Jackson and Ohio State rookie Miyan Williams, who was not selected. Jackson signed with the Colts as an undrafted free agent after his first two seasons at Duke. During his sophomore year, Jackson had to make more than two starts because Jonathan Taylor was hurt. He kept profession highs in conveys (68), yards (236), and scores (1) that season. Jackson played games for the Colts, Browns, and Giants over the course of the previous season.
In his five years with the Buckeyes, Williams played primarily as a backup, appearing in four of those seasons. Williams had a breakout season in 2022, rushing for 825 yards at 6.4 yards per carry and scoring 14 touchdowns despite TreVeyon Henderson’s injury problems. Williams’ role significantly decreased in 2023 due to a healthy Henderson and an influx of new talent. With free specialist expansion Joe Mixon and third-year back Dameon Pierce set up on the profundity graph, Jackson and Williams are going for a valuable chance to push Dare Ogunbowale and 6th round new kid on the block Jawhar Jordan for a reinforcement work.
