Legendary Italian coach Arrigo Sacchi has come out in support of under-fire AC Milan boss Paulo Fonseca, due to the immense pressure he is facing following a string of disappointing results. Fonseca, who took over as Milan coach last summer, has been criticized for his tactics and team selection, but Sacchi believes he deserves patience and time to implement his ideas.
“Fonseca is a good coach, and he needs time to work on his project,” Sacchi said in an interview. “He can’t be judged after just a few months. Let him work in peace.”
Sacchi, who led Milan to back-to-back European Cup titles in the late 1980s, knows a thing or two about building a successful team. He believes that Fonseca has the right ideas, but needs time to execute them.
“Fonseca has a clear idea of how he wants to play, and he’s trying to implement it,” Sacchi said. “But it takes time, and he needs the support of the club.”
With Sacchi’s backing, Fonseca will hope to turn things around and lead Milan back to success. The Portuguese coach will be grateful for the support of one of Italy’s most respected coaches, and will be determined to prove himself at the San Siro.
