The Los Angeles Lakers are coming off of a significant NFL Draft in which they selected Dalton Knecht, a star basketball player for Tennessee, in the first round and Bronny James, a key role player for USC, in the second round. In the meantime, the Lakers have continued to add players who have a lot of potential and skills to their franchise talent pool. According to an NBA.com update published on Wednesday, the most recent signing is 6-foot-9, 200-pound guard/forward Vincent Valerio-Bodon, who has committed to Coach JJ Redick’s team. In the NBA’s G League, Valerio-Bodon played for the South Bay Lakers last season. In 18.3 minutes of basketball, Valerio-Bodon averaged 6 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.2 blocks. Valerio-Bodon, a 23-year-old prospect, has also played in the Hungarian A League, where he averaged 5.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 19.8 games. The forward for the Lakers also played in the team’s 2024 Summer League team. In four games, he averaged 13.5 minutes played, 4.5 points, 4 rebounds, and 1.3 assists.
The Lakers’ roster for 2024 and 2025 is beginning to take shape, but not everyone will be selected. Newcomers like Vincent Valerio-Bodon could find themselves on the outside looking in because the Lakers are known for acquiring stars in the last minute through trade or waiver wire.
