Marc Cucurella, a left back for Chelsea, has continued his argument with Erling Haaland, a striker for Manchester City, claiming that the Norway international was overly sensitive to an incident that occurred after Spain won the Euro 2024 tournament.
Cucurella was a member of the Spanish team that won the Euros, and he took part in a chant that fans had started for him, the lyrics of which made fun of Haaland. When Cucurella spoke after the clubs’ meeting at Stamford Bridge on the first weekend of the Premier League season, the Man City striker commented that he was somewhat perplexed to hear Cucurella sing about him. Although the Chelsea left back has since suggested that his opponent simply misunderstood the context of the song, Haaland stated that Cucurella had asked for his shirt off of him the previous season but then sang about him this summer, which he was unable to comprehend.
Cucurella made the observation to EFE that people these days take things too personally, a further dig at Haaland that may continue this feud. Cucurella stated, “A lot of attention was given to that, and these things happen.” “I am very pleased, and I believe that if a player’s name appears in a song, it is because he is a world star or top player; a player whose name is unknown would not be used.
“Cucu, Cucurella, he eats paella, Cucu, Cucurella, he drinks Estrella, Haaland you’d better tremble as Cucurella is coming,” is the full chant. As a result, Haaland mentioned it recently on Match of the Day, as stated by the Metro: “It was an interesting song, that, from that guy (Cucurella).” There is very little to say. That doesn’t really cross my mind. He has complete freedom. “Last year he asked me for my jersey and started singing about me.
