Brian Schottenheimer, the offensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys in the last two seasons, is quickly rising as one of the favorites for the head coaching job in Frisco, Texas.
After Schottenheimer was made the betting favorite for the gig over the weekend, additional reports emerged on the team’s rising interest in him.The Cowboys moved on from McCarthy last week after the sides failed to agree on contract length. Dallas appeared to have a shorter deal in mind, which McCarthy passed on, something that reportedly took Jerry Jones by surprise. Schottenheimer arrived in Dallas in 2022 as a coaching analyst before being promoted to offensive coordinator in 2023 when Kellen Moore parted ways with the Cowboys. Under Mike McCarthy, Schottenheimer didn’t call plays, which reports suggest would change if hired as head coach.
