She co-chairs the board of the Chelsea-based Purple Rose Theatre Company with her husband. Hamp graduated from Yale in 1973 as a member of the first female class. She continued on to Boston University to obtain a master’s degree in early childhood education and teaching.

 

At Yale, Hamp was a varsity tennis player. According to her Lions background, she was raised in Michigan, competed at the national level as a junior, and won the Michigan state title at the age of 17.
